Self Prayer
This was done around 1998 after buying my first home, in the Masters program. It was submitted for the Chrysler 300 model car that was coming out. I no longer have possession of it. This is a self-portrait of myself who I envisioned myself to be, praying on the beach. It was acrylic and oil pastel. This was my most loved piece I've done. Not Available.

While at Howard University I was hired by a freelance, independent promoter marketing Prince when he changed his name, and was going to be in concert. Done in 1993. Not Available. It was pencil, paint, and oil pastel.

I finally completed this piece of my friend, Kim in NYC who I met in the WBDC class at Norwalk Community College around 2005. She's such a sweet, classy, and intelligent person. Done 6/18/20; 18 x 24. acrylic- an abstract depiction of the tragedies Black people have faced since the start of this civilization we call America. It shows ancestors reaching up to hold this Black man up while he's being trampled on and stepped on by the "Man." This brutalized man is crying, eyes bulging and bursting out his head by being battered, losing a tooth, and bleeding to death. There's hidden messages within the shoe. It shows the climate of today with a vast number of all races protesting police killings and how Black people of preyed upon in this society of systematic racism which continues to perpetuate itself in 2020. The Black Lives Matter Movement continues. The question is can it ever end by the necessity those in blue, white supremacists, and other hate groups like KKK give cause to a slogan we shouldn't have to take a stance on; to have to shout to world today that our lives matter? It's disgusting, sickening, and exhausting.

Done 6/24/20; 18 x 24 on acrylic-this shows the beauty of womanhood, the Black woman that is, and how deep her roots stem to start of the world. It shows her divinity, and trueness to who she is and the cycle of her evolution as branches and vines sprout from her head.

Billie: Hated & Loved
Done 3/11/21 on 16 x 20 canvas in acrylic. I was always fascinated with the story of Billie Holiday when it starred Diana Ross, and now the new one produced by Lee Daniels. This is what stood out for me from the movie besides her singing. The roots of our people strangling her like a dog change while her music was doing the same. The trauma of seeing our people hung from trees by the KKK, the burning crosses and burning down our homes by the KKK and other hate groups, etc. She knew how to sing which is what brought her out of the slums, but she brought the mentality with it; the drug use she resorted to to relieve the pain, and how she repeatedly gave her body away as much as the fruit was plentiful like apples. Strange Fruit is what made her hated, and one the songs that made her famous.

You: It's Complicated
Completed on 12/31/21 on 20 x 16 canvas with acrylic. This painting represents women like me who are complicated; who've had to wear masks, but are now open to being themselves without masks. She is stunning, colorful, and vibrant. Puzzles are on her face and body to represent the complexity of a woman, yet at the same time it could means she's being put together/parts of her are falling off. No more mask. Bold and unforgiving in who she is.

The Garden
Done 5/27/22 as a gift for Elder Jeanette Greene's wedding present. This depicts the story of Adam and Eve (Genesis) in the bible where Eve was tempted by satan to indulge in the forbidden tree by eating the apple. Adam cries because he knows they have been disobedient. This is only available in print. It's acrylic on 16 x 20 canvas.
